Vascular Access

For hemodialysis treatment, a vascular access route is needed first. The efficiency of the vascular access route to allow high volumes of blood flow is of great importance for good blood purification.
The most common permanent vascular access route for patients treated for CKD is an arteriovenous (AVF) fistula.
AV fistulas are formed by the joining of arteries and veins and allow rapid, high volume of blood flow. Experienced hemodialysis doctors and nurses develop your fistula to facilitate repeated needle insertions.
A maturation period of four to six weeks is required for needle insertion to occur in newly opened AV fistulas.
Another alternative for patients who cannot apply AV fistula is graft. The graft consists of connecting the artery and vein with an artificial piece.
A good vascular access line is the cornerstone of a quality hemodialysis treatment and is of great importance for your health.
